Course overview

As cyber crimes grow more sophisticated, investigators need advanced tools to detect and respond to them. This course shows how artificial intelligence can improve digital forensics, from collecting evidence to analysing large volumes of data.

The group learns to apply machine learning algorithms and AI-powered solutions to find patterns in network traffic and text-based evidence. The sessions cover anomaly detection, malware analysis, and identifying AI-generated fraud like deepfakes.

Evidence must be handled carefully. Integration with existing forensic workflows is considered alongside the legal frameworks governing investigations, chain of custody and ethical questions about using AI. Delegates examine the admissibility of AI-analysed evidence in court.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Explain the role of AI in digital investigations
  2. Use AI tools to detect cyber crime patterns
  3. Collect and preserve digital evidence using AI solutions
  4. Analyse large volumes of data using machine learning
  5. Integrate AI technologies into existing forensic workflows
  6. Address legal and ethical requirements in AI investigations
