Course overview

Businesses use e-procurement to transact with other businesses over the Internet when buying or selling goods and services. It involves employees and suppliers throughout the procurement process, including those in Fortune 500 companies and large local organisations. The programme considers people, processes and technology in relation to organisational needs, beginning with end-to-end procurement and mapping that process to electronic and traditional Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

The business case comes first. Delegates compare modern e-procurement with ERP Procure-to-Pay arrangements and examine requirements and practices for implementation. Development sessions cover internal ordering and approvals, quotation preparation and evaluation, and electronic purchase orders. Negotiation exercises accompany work on business models, influence, power and pressure points.

System management includes workflows, processes, hardware, software and user administration. The closing sessions address integration with business processes, contract law, electronic signatures and contract formation in e-trading. Change management techniques and organisational changes are considered alongside how to manage the system and obtain its benefits.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
