Supply chains in the 21st century face climate-related threats and opportunities alongside changing consumer preferences for greener operations. United Nations climate change conferences have drawn attention to these pressures and the regulation affecting supply chains. The course considers how logistics managers can protect operations from climate effects while working towards sustainability and climate neutrality and delivering value.
Circular supply chains change how resources are used. Designing for reuse or recycling affects flows into and out of facilities; delegates examine these processes together with sourcing strategy and information technology that improves visibility. Warehouse sessions follow receiving, picking and shipping, with Lean principles and continuous improvement applied to the flow of goods.
Inventory receives a separate day. The programme covers Work-In-Progress (WIP), three-dimensional ABC classification, accuracy and replenishment, then turns to the 4 approaches to risk management and the risks and opportunities of outsourcing. Performance management concludes the course, including benchmarking, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), executive dashboards and the selection and implementation of improvements.
