Course overview
A late delivery, a pallet of stock nobody ordered and a freight bill over budget usually trace back to the same cause: a supply chain managed in pieces. This course treats logistics and supply chain management as one system and looks at where service level, cost and inventory pull against each other.
The first two days cover how a supply chain is structured and measured, then demand forecasting and inventory control, with safety stock, reorder points and ABC classification worked through by hand. Day 3 is sourcing: make-or-buy, supplier selection, contract terms, Incoterms and supplier reviews. Day 4 moves to warehouse design, transport mode choice, route planning, third-party logistics and the paperwork for cross-border movement.
Day 5 deals with things going wrong. Delegates assess supply chain risk, see the digital tools used for planning and tracking, and look at lean and sustainability measures. They finish by drafting an improvement plan for a supply chain they know, built on the measures from earlier in the week.
