Purchasing performance depends on how a procurement team is led and managed. The programme addresses common gaps in that work and the continuous improvements needed to support organisational strategy. Proactive supply base management is central. Delegates examine cost reduction and value improvements together, using supply-market knowledge to develop creativity and flexibility and strengthen procurement as an organisational competency.
The five days follow purchasing from the skills and job descriptions required of staff through to assessment of the department's current operation. Strategic sourcing, spend profiles and ABC Analysis accompany gap analysis, mission and vision, departmental plans and a company purchase price index. Analytics guide the strategy, while Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) provide ways to report procurement performance.
Further sessions cover supplier costs, cost containment and waste, with commodity and service planning and responses to price increases. Supplier classification, qualification and performance criteria are followed by process mapping and eProcurement. Global sourcing and international labour-rate comparisons lead into customer focus, corruption and fraud prevention, professional standards and keeping current. Practical action planning links the course concepts to workplace improvements.
