Course overview
An audit examines how an organisation communicates inside and outside its boundaries. Business strategy informs the assessment. Delegates review policies and communication systems, then consider whether channels, messages and practices meet organisational requirements and the needs of stakeholders.
Evidence supports the recommendations. Delegates plan an audit and analyse the data collected to assess effectiveness and efficiency, identify areas requiring improvement and develop solutions. Discussion covers presenting findings to stakeholders and preparing communication plans, with metrics for measuring success and the impact of recommendations.
A session on communication challenges in organisations addresses the informative, regulative, persuasive and interpretive functions of communication, alongside common obstacles: verbal barriers, nonverbal misunderstandings, technology-mediated communication problems and cross-cultural differences. The final day focuses on implementation, measuring the impact of recommendations and the ethical responsibilities that come with auditing.
