Course overview

Gas turbines run under extreme pressure and temperature. They require precise control to maintain output and reliability. Plant engineers and maintenance teams must fully grasp the aerodynamics behind these complex machines to prevent costly downtime and manage repairs effectively when things go wrong.

The sessions break down the machinery used across the oil, gas and chemical sectors. Delegates study the core components, which include the compressor, the combustor and the turbine package itself. The programme outlines fuel systems, atomisation methods and the strict environmental limits on combustion.

Delegates also review the hot gas path. This includes focusing on blade design, material selection and methods to prevent erosion and corrosion over time. The final modules cover maintenance schedules, troubleshooting techniques, root cause analysis and procedures for turbo-machinery overhauls.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Implement operational guidelines for gas turbine systems
  2. Apply methods to increase turbine performance and efficiency
  3. Evaluate improvement techniques for industrial applications
  4. Assess the effects of corrosion and fouling on turbine output
  5. Resolve operational challenges using industry best practices
