Governance has drawn attention in business schools and legislatures over two decades. Different regulators share responsibilities for governance and dealing with stakeholders, but vary in structure and authority. The programme compares international bodies, ministries, authorities, agencies and self-regulatory organisations, with independence, accountability and transparency examined as regulatory principles.
Funding can affect independence. Delegates consider special-interest groups, semi-governmental and self-regulatory arrangements and ways of reducing outside influence while maintaining stakeholder trust. Decision-making sessions connect structure and authority with accountability, including engagement of stakeholders and related authorities. Evaluation covers efficiency and financial and nonfinancial performance before monitoring, audit, inspection and enforcement receive a separate day.
The audience includes board members, chief financial officers, senior managers, directors, finance managers and controllers, accounting and finance staff, legal counsel, corporate legal advisers and secretaries, lawyers, internal and external auditors, HR managers and department heads. Employees and managers of capital market authorities, central banks and other governmental and non-governmental regulators are also included. Instructor and delegate presentations accompany exercises and case discussions.
