Course overview
Delays, unexpected costs and unmet client needs can affect IT projects. Managing stakeholder requirements, scheduling activities and coordinating employee effort are central topics here, with attention to stakeholder engagement and satisfaction after delivery. The course integrates software engineering methods, requirements engineering and quality assurance with established project management practices.
IT systems have intangible requirements. Delegates examine elicitation, quality factors and emerging requirements, then develop plans to control scope, schedule, cost and uncertainty. The discussion includes product management, globally distributed teams and the responsibilities of product managers, product owners and business analysts, alongside the technical roles involved in delivery.
Predictive and adaptive methods receive separate attention. Waterfall challenges are examined together with Agile values, Scrum and team management. Traditional progress reports and earned value dashboards accompany reviews, requirements traceability and confirmation of value generation. Lessons learnt and retrospectives provide the closing work on continuous improvement.
