Course overview

A PMO connects project work with organisational strategy. The course examines its roles and functions, including the differences between enterprise and project-specific offices and a centre of excellence. Delegates consider the case for establishing a PMO and the processes needed to manage projects through initiation, execution and closure.

Framework choices need to fit the organisation. PMBOK, Agile and Waterfall are examined alongside the adaptation of PMO processes to different project lifecycles. Documentation and templates accompany the work on project management tools, with analytics, metrics and performance measurement providing information for project decisions.

Governance defines responsibilities and reporting. Delegates examine stakeholder identification and engagement, compliance and the balance between governance requirements and flexibility. Implementation steps, maturity models and continuous improvement lead into preparation of an organisational PMO roadmap, with case studies and examples of successful implementation included in the final day.

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  4. Use project management tools, analytics and metrics to assess performance and make decisions
