Course overview
Project decisions often involve pressure and uncertain conditions. The course examines fundamental project management concepts alongside advanced project and risk management approaches, with a systematic view of the processes used to pursue business objectives. Delegates consider potential problems before they occur and develop a project plan, risk strategy and stakeholder management strategy.
Decisions face different evidence conditions. The discussion distinguishes certainty, risk and uncertainty before addressing current risk concepts and standards, planning, identification and qualitative assessment. Schedule-risk and cost-risk analysis inform response choices, implementation and follow-up. Practical techniques address typical project issues, with risk reporting connected to project monitoring.
The project lifecycle supplies the context. Initiation, scope and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) topics precede activity sequencing, scheduling, resources and earned value management (EVM). Execution then brings stakeholder expectations, communication and team management into the discussion. Closure, lessons learnt and post-project evaluation include the realisation of benefits.
