Course overview
Project time and funding are finite. The course examines the management of these limits alongside quality, resources and risk, with estimating techniques suited to different lifecycle stages. Delegates consider how the overall timeline and cost plan can fit project constraints and how uncertainty in estimates can be addressed proactively through risk management.
The agenda develops planning and control methods. Scope definition and project selection precede critical path scheduling, direct and indirect cost assessment, resource limits and schedule acceleration. PERT probability and standard deviation formulae support duration estimates, while contingency reserves and network activity risk profiles inform risk strategies.
Performance measurement goes beyond the initial estimate. Critical chain analysis, buffers and balanced schedules accompany the work on planned and actual progress, contracting risk and changing work conditions. Schedule and cost variances then provide inputs for trend analysis, forecasting and reactive issue resolution, including recovery plans, baselines and controls that protect project limits.
