Course overview
Big data changes the information available for organisational decisions. CABDDA examines how to store, process, analyse and present use cases, including the assembly and management of large-scale analytics projects. Practical Spark labs address data-intensive problems alongside storage architectures, cloud computing and the risks of moving data. Machine learning and deep learning cases introduce advanced analytical work, with ethics and integrity included in discussion of data analytics and artificial intelligence.
Delegates choose a project dataset. Examples from Netflix, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google, Orbitz and Dell support discussion of organisational needs before delegates assess their own organisation and identify opportunities. Work on the chosen project covers problem definition, data sources, exploration, analysis and visualisation, ending with a presentation of findings and the analytics lifecycle using Spark. The advanced course follows the Big Data and Data Analytics Practitioner (CBDDAP) and Big Data Fundamentals (CBDF) material in the series; several years of big data experience or previous CBDDAP attendance are expected, with Python programming and data visualisation practice recommended.
Course objectives
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
- Explain big data technologies and the use of Apache Spark
- Describe Hadoop map-reduce challenges and advantages
- Demonstrate and discuss storage and computing technologies, including PostgreSQL and object storage
- Discuss machine learning algorithms, deep learning techniques and ethics in data analytics and artificial intelligence
- Present an analytics lifecycle demonstration using Spark
