Course overview

Digital transformation changes service delivery and business models. CDT examines the progression from digitisation and digitalisation to transformation, including discussion of Industry 5.0. An International Data Corporation (IDC) projection put global digital transformation spending at $2.8 trillion for 2025. Examples include Britannica's transition to a digital encyclopaedia and the use of platforms and digital communities by Airbnb, Uber and Netflix.

The course takes a broad view of strategy and implementation. Delegates examine organisational position, customers, competitors and resources before considering growth and tactics. Big data, blockchain, cloud computing, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and the metaverse provide material for discussion of applications and business cases, alongside cybersecurity and business data analytics trends and the decisions to invest in them.

Innovation receives its own module. Design thinking, innovation stages and sprint workshops accompany work on digital leadership and governance, including who leads transformation and how strategy becomes action. Open discussions and practical use cases, tools and techniques support the principles and experience-based material.
