Course overview

Many finance professionals spend more time collecting budget data than analysing it. That leaves little room for actual planning. This syllabus acts as the next step after 'Effective Budgeting and Cost Control', focusing on turning budgeting into a process that adds value to an organisation.

Delegates use Microsoft Excel to build user-friendly models, test assumptions, and run scenario analysis. The sessions cover leading forecasting methods in depth. We also provide a detailed evaluation of capital budgeting techniques, from net present value to the profitability index. Practical exercises rely heavily on tools such as the solver and what-if analysis. This hands-on approach prepares finance teams to apply these new models to their own work immediately.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Assess the financial impact on organisational plans and strategies
  2. Construct working budgets for specific departments or the wider organisation
