Course overview

Industrial maintenance demands rigorous financial and operational governance. Because unmanaged asset failures, inaccurate spare parts inventory and uncontrolled contractor spending erode operating margins across capital-intensive plants, engineering leadership teams require systematic management disciplines to protect machinery availability and contain lifecycle expenditure.

Arranged across nine modules, this five-day programme covers the complete maintenance management cycle. Early units concentrate on strategy formulation, cost control and Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) analysis. Delegates evaluate outsourcing models, manage contractor risks and apply the 6 core elements of maintenance planning and scheduling. Workload allocation relies on the RACI matrix.

Subsequent modules address spare parts inventory policies using ABC analysis, alongside Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) simulations involving Bill of Materials (BOM) and Application Parts List (APL) structures. Delegates examine risk frameworks, 5S workplace organisation and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) pillars.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Formulate maintenance strategies to optimise equipment reliability, asset lifespan and operating costs
  2. Apply budgeting principles and cost control procedures to maintenance activities
  3. Implement maintenance planning and scheduling workflows to minimise downtime and resource waste
  4. Structure the maintenance workforce and analyse departmental workloads using RACI matrices
  5. Deploy Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track work orders and equipment history

Target competencies

  • Maintenance strategy and budgeting
