Course overview

Digital content creates management demands. Capturing, managing and controlling that content requires policies, processes and systems, which delegates examine in the context of digital transformation and international good practice.

Accountability applies throughout the lifecycle. Delegates consider how digital information is valued, created, stored and used, then archived or deleted, with roles, standards and metrics connecting the processes to organisational goals. Scanning, workflow and Optical Character Recognition (OCR) form part of that work.

Compliance includes several reference sources. National Archives digitisation guidelines, scanning, archiving and digital preservation accompany ISO 13008 Digital Records Conversion and Migration. Legal and industry requirements, information compliance, auditing and ISO 27001 information security are included.

Implementation combines people and systems. Operating models, responsibilities, reporting and programme plans precede the work on quality, risk and issues. Delegates then prepare policies, lifecycle guidelines and action plans, using exercises and regional and international cases in pairs and larger teams.
