Course overview
Coordination affects both cost and quality. Projects require integration of activities and communication among people, stakeholders, suppliers and contractors, together with controls that keep client and end-user requirements visible throughout definition, design and delivery. The course examines these responsibilities and the common planning and management problems that interfere with project outcomes.
Project and programme decisions connect with strategic business and financial choices. Delegates examine organisational structures and the use of resources across projects and portfolios, then practise planning, team selection and development. The nine modules progress through the project lifecycle, addressing scope and quality alongside scheduling, risk and contingency analysis.
Earned value techniques link progress with schedule and cost performance. Delegates examine how to measure, forecast and control delivery, produce concise reports and account for uncertainty in a manageable plan. Practical work includes completion and customer handover, case studies and team activities, with videos of substantial projects, including large construction projects, screened and critically discussed. Current developments and related fields such as risk are incorporated into the integrated project management discussion.
