Reporting involves routine and unusual transactions. This programme gives accounting professionals practice in recording those transactions and making the adjustments and disclosures needed for financial statements, with attention to IFRS compliance and the information management uses for decisions. Work begins with the accounting cycle and the relationships between statements.
The programme begins with the mechanics of the main financial statements. Delegates explore how the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement relate to each other. They learn to apply the accrual basis for revenue recognition, before using the direct and indirect methods for calculating cash flow. The syllabus also covers the essential notes and disclosures required by IFRS. These include related-party transactions, commitments, and risk management.
Later modules address adjustments and major accounts. Delegates practise estimating bad debts and accounting for depreciation and asset impairment, then examine inventory, long-lived assets and intangibles.
