Managing, developing and retaining talent requires coordination between HR and line managers. Delegates examine HR's movement from an operational role towards strategic support for managers and employees. The programme covers strategy, recruitment, talent management, performance, careers, learning and development, and reward and recognition in relation to corporate goals and productivity.
Selection requires evidence. Work on job descriptions, criteria and competencies is followed by assessment centres, behavioural interviews and other screening methods. Talent sessions address internal and external recruitment, orientation, retention, engagement and motivation, then development and succession planning for continuity. Learning work links training solutions with career management, business curricula, coaching, mentoring and leadership development.
Performance conversations need preparation. Objectives, KPIs and standards inform review discussions, feedback and responses to poor performance or behavioural issues before they escalate. The disciplinary process is considered alongside ways to support employee contribution. Consultative skills are practised through exercises and role-play, with discussion of situations delegates currently face at work. Facilitator and peer feedback, together with self-review, accompany the activities; motivation, recognition, learning reviews and action planning complete the work.
