Internal audit functions are expected to do more than tick compliance boxes. Auditors must understand the full governance, risk and compliance (GRC) environment, gather reliable evidence and produce reports that prompt genuine organisational change. When planning is poor or methodology is inconsistently applied, control weaknesses go unnoticed and emerging threats such as fraud and IT vulnerabilities are left unaddressed.
This course guides delegates through the complete audit lifecycle. Planning comes first: setting objectives, defining scope, identifying risks and allocating resources. From there, sessions cover the main audit methodologies, including risk-based and control-based approaches, and show delegates how to bring data analytics into fieldwork to improve both accuracy and efficiency.
Day three is devoted to conducting fieldwork. Delegates practise interviewing auditees, performing control walkthroughs and structuring audit reports for maximum impact. Advanced sessions on days four and five address fraud detection, fraud risk assessment, IT audit procedures and cybersecurity evaluations, drawing on investigative techniques and legal considerations. The final day covers quality assurance, peer reviews and the use of audit findings to drive continuous improvement.
