Internal controls sit at the heart of any organisation's Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system. Without them, financial errors accumulate, regulatory obligations go unmet and operational risks are left unmanaged. Management teams must be able to assess risks, select appropriate responses and enforce the right controls across every part of the business, from the boardroom to the accounts payable team.
The course begins with corporate governance and the COSO frameworks. Both the Internal Controls Framework and the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework are examined in detail, including their 17 principles and the five-component structure covering control environment, risk assessment, control activities, information and communication, and monitoring. Delegates then work through controls at board level before moving into the specific mechanics of business cycle controls.

Day three shifts to IT and facilities, examining data safeguarding, building access, communication systems and safety measures.
