Course overview

Finance teams process large volumes of raw data. The challenge is not collection. It is turning those numbers into something a decision-maker can act on quickly. Traditional spreadsheet software reaches its limits when datasets grow, when interactivity is needed, or when reports must refresh automatically without manual rework.

This course shows delegates how to use Microsoft Power BI to analyse financial data and build compelling visual reports. Sessions begin with acquiring, cleaning and transforming data, then move into the DAX modelling language and the star schema system. Delegates learn the core differences between Power BI Desktop and the Power BI Service, and work with practical tools for sorting, drilling and filtering information across financial datasets.

The programme then turns to business performance management (BPM), covering how to combine financial metrics with non-financial key performance indicators (KPIs). Delegates finish by building their own interactive dashboards covering strategic, tactical and operational reporting needs. All five days involve direct work in Power BI Desktop, with exercises designed to move from simple outputs to fully functioning performance dashboards.

Key booking terms (read before you register)
  • The full fee is paid in advance, before the course starts.
  • Cancel in writing 30 or more days before the start date (45 for in-house) for a refund. Later than that, the full fee is payable.
  • No refund for non-attendance or partial attendance.
  • Places are for the named delegate only; another person cannot attend instead.
  • Moving to another date or city is only possible if ARUK agrees in writing.
  • Travel, accommodation and visas are your responsibility. A refused visa does not change the cancellation terms.
