Course overview
Project management also concerns people. Leadership, problem solving, delegation and communication accompany risk identification and the management of teams and their working environment, with attention to a culture of improved safety. Delegates examine how to initiate and select projects, define success through performance indicators and quality measures, and apply basic project controls.
A central scenario drives the practical work. Assigned roles give delegates experience of creating a scope statement, Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), risk register, activity list, network diagram and earned value report. Planning exercises cover project charters and requirements before the discussion turns to scheduling, resource constraints and cost estimates.
Controls connect the schedule with resources and costs. The later sessions examine virtual teams, communication plans and contracts within project constraints, then address tracking software, meetings and project problems. Closure includes administration, handover, document updates and lessons learnt, with customer satisfaction included in the project management objectives.
