Hiring decisions affect time, finances, team morale and productivity. Delegates examine how recruitment and selection approaches can identify qualified candidates whose skills and values match organisational needs. Behavioural assessment and potential warning signs inform evaluation. The programme defines recruitment stages and responsibilities, including relationships with other HR functions, then considers job profiles, descriptions and candidate specifications.
Evidence supports selection. Sources include referrals, internal candidates, advertisements, online sites, agencies, headhunters, career fairs and universities. Shortlisting work addresses tangible and intangible criteria, assessment centres, application records and online verification. Delegates compare interview types and practise probing interviews for vacancies at different levels. Captured data, objective and subjective comments, legality and fairness inform profiles, decision matrices and competency gap analysis. Mini-lectures, cases, group activities, role-play and short films provide practical applications, followed by the management of candidate databases, records and HR systems.
