Public organisations need plans and performance systems that support the delivery of their mandates efficiently and effectively. The programme examines clear goal setting, resource alignment and performance measurement, with attention to accountability. Delegates study strategic planning principles and how organisational missions, stakeholder needs and policy priorities inform a practical plan.
Measurement supports decisions. Sessions examine frameworks, measurable KPIs and targets, then the collection and analysis of performance data. Implementation work connects resource allocation with project management, progress tracking and the response to performance gaps. Adaptive planning considers changing environments and priorities, risk management and communication to keep stakeholders aligned.
Improvement involves reviewing what happened and deciding what to change. Delegates consider performance reviews and after-action assessments, innovation and the use of technology in planning and performance. Presentations introduce frameworks, and public sector cases examine effective strategies and systems. Workshops, group exercises and decision simulations provide practice before action planning sessions develop approaches tailored to delegates' organisations.
The 6 learning objectives connect planning with performance, decisions, adaptation and improvement. Day 1 addresses planning foundations, day 2 develops the plan, day 3 examines performance systems and day 4 covers implementation and monitoring before the work on innovation and improvement.
