Useful learning materials start with defined needs and objectives. The course brings training needs analysis together with instructional design, covering how to research course objectives and build content for training and e-learning goals that relate to workplace requirements. Delegates consider current models, design methods and resources for effective delivery, including documentation, presentation materials, workbooks and manuals. Online and blended learning form part of the design work.
Learners have different preferences. Personality, adult learning models and self-assessment help delegates examine how materials can be adapted, while attention and memory principles inform the design of engaging activities. Handouts, video, quizzes, games, exercises, examples and case studies support thinking skills and knowledge awareness within the cognitive domain. HR, technical, safety and management examples accompany work on curriculum structure, quality and project costs. Competency frameworks and assessments provide methods for measuring improvement after training.
