Business documents need to communicate their purpose clearly and use a tone suited to the reader. The programme addresses experienced staff and people entering the workplace, with attention to professional confidence, clarity and accuracy. Day 1 examines concise, coherent writing, common pitfalls and audience needs through a short email exercise.
Emails and memos follow on Day 2. Delegates work on subject lines, greetings, the body and closing, and consider information, persuasion and requests for action alongside tone and etiquette.
Day 3 covers informational, analytical and recommendation reports, including structure, visuals and data. Proposal work connects a problem statement with a solution and call to action. Revision on Day 4 examines grammar, punctuation and style, with Grammarly and Hemingway introduced as proofreading tools and peer review used to exchange constructive feedback.
Context affects the wording. The final sessions cover announcements, updates and policies for internal audiences and client emails, press releases and newsletters for external audiences. Delegates adapt style to cultures and industries and consider efficient writing under tight deadlines, followed by action plans for continued improvement. Daily breaks include Q&A; a workbook provides templates, checklists and resources.
