Course overview

Chemical hazards can affect workers' health and the environment. The programme provides tools and strategies for recognising, managing and reducing those risks, with compliance and workplace safety examined alongside environmental sustainability. Day 1 introduces hazards, responsibilities and frameworks including OSHA, EPA and REACH. Classification follows on Day 2 through GHS and SDS, with risk assessment, exposure limits, monitoring, labels and signs.

Handling needs controls. On Day 3, delegates consider safe practices, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), storage and segregation, transport and shipping, and prevention and management of spills. Waste management on Day 4 covers classification, collection, storage and disposal, including recycling and reuse and development of a waste plan. The final sessions address spill response plans, emergency procedures and sustainability within chemical safety programmes, with cases and lessons learned. Discussions, simulations, practical exercises and multimedia presentations support application to hazard identification, risk management and waste handling.
