Preparedness supports safety, limits damage and helps maintain business continuity when unexpected events occur. Day 1 examines emergency and crisis concepts through natural disasters, technological failures and human-made events, following preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation across the lifecycle. A group discussion considers potential crises in delegates' organisations.
Plans allocate responsibility. Work during Day 2 identifies vulnerabilities and risks, defines team roles and develops an outline for an emergency response plan.
Coordination and communication on Day 3 address timely, clear messages to internal and external stakeholders and the media, with a simulated press conference or stakeholder update. Leadership on Day 4 considers decisions under pressure, response efforts across teams and departments, stress and team morale. Role-play provides practice in leading a response team.
Recovery needs review. Delegates plan the restoration of operations and support for affected stakeholders, conduct post-crisis evaluation and update response plans from lessons, feedback and new risks. Quizzes and exercises reinforce the work, with action plans for continued improvement. A workbook provides templates, checklists and resources; daily breaks include Q&A.
