An EMS organises environmental management around objectives, responsibilities and performance review. The programme examines its principles and benefits, including reduced environmental impact, regulatory compliance and organisational reputation. An introduction on Day 1 covers the business case, ISO 14001 and other relevant standards through discussion of environmental challenges and opportunities. Planning on Day 2 begins with a review of aspects and impacts, then sets objectives and targets and develops a policy for a simulated organisation.
Implementation turns plans into procedures. During Day 3, delegates examine roles, operational controls and employee training and awareness, and create a procedure for an environmental aspect. Monitoring on Day 4 addresses measurement, internal audit, management review and corrective actions for non-conformities, including a mock audit. The closing sessions connect waste reduction, energy efficiency and resource conservation with sustainability and organisational success. Stakeholder engagement and regular EMS reviews and updates accompany improvement plans; quizzes and exercises reinforce the work, and a workbook, daily breaks and Q&A are included.
