Course overview

Team leaders help people engage with their work and reach shared goals. Leadership, communication and motivation form the main subjects here, alongside goal setting and time management. Building trust and rapport, giving teams responsibility and creating a supportive environment are examined in relation to commitment, collaboration and team relationships.

Self-evaluation starts the practical work. Delegates examine their leadership styles before considering clear roles, consensus decisions and team development. Belbin's type indicator and a values alignment matrix inform discussion of individual and team motivators, while communication, problem-solving tools and decision methods address performance. Change sessions then examine typical reactions, the change cycle, the 4 room apartment strategy and the 17 laws of great teamwork. Case studies, exercises and delegate presentations are followed by group discussion.
