Course overview

Communication style affects relationships at work and beyond it. Thinking patterns and learning preferences provide a basis for adapting messages to different people. Delegates consider their own communication habits as well as the ways other people communicate with them, including situations involving pressure or difficult interpersonal relationships.

Listening needs deliberate attention. Personal listening profiles and internal filters lead into the discussion of information recall and loss, sensory channels and meta programs. Body language sessions examine appearance, colour and eye movements alongside rapport, while assertiveness work covers rights, responsibilities and responses to criticism.

Influence involves several sources of power. The six principles of persuasion provide material for work on difficult relationships, and the workshop uses four teaching approaches: concept presentations, role-play, experience sharing and case scenarios. These methods support practice in communicating within an environment involving several parties.
