Course overview

Professionals need a clear technical grasp of how AI systems operate before they can use them effectively in production. This course provides that foundation. It moves from basic theory to practical application, allowing delegates to deploy AI in their own work.

The syllabus covers the history of AI development before moving into specific techniques. Delegates study machine learning algorithms, deep neural networks, and how convolutional neural networks (CNNs) process visual data. The natural language processing modules cover advanced transformer models like BERT and GPT.

Practical sessions are a major part of the training. Delegates use development frameworks and cloud services like IBM Watson to build basic models. The course finishes by looking at the ethical implications, data privacy challenges, and what an AI-driven future means for the economy.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Explain the core principles and theories behind artificial intelligence
  2. Identify machine learning, deep learning and neural network techniques
  3. Apply machine learning algorithms to business and research problems
  4. Use development platforms and tools to build simple applications
  5. Assess AI's societal effects, ethical considerations and practical challenges
  6. Build a foundation for further study or careers in AI and data science
