Course overview

Every energy and petrochemical organisation depends on its people. Retaining them is harder than recruiting them. Human resources teams therefore need clear frameworks: frameworks for getting the right knowledge to the right people, for managing succession pipelines, and for keeping high performers engaged well before they decide to leave.

The training breaks down how to build an excellent selection process. It starts with the real cost of interviewing. From there, delegates move through aptitude testing, psychometrics and the mechanics of running an assessment centre. They also examine the Forer Effect and the practical limitations of testing tools that energy organisations commonly over-rely on.

Day three turns to workforce differentiation and motivation. Delegates examine how high performers think, why they leave, and which retention strategies change their behaviour in practice. The course then covers performance appraisal and succession planning. The final session addresses the role of headhunters in securing high-performing staff and introduces practical techniques for calculating productivity.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Apply best practices in recruitment and selection
  2. Evaluate the benefits and limitations of psychometric testing
  3. Improve retention and motivation through workforce differentiation
