Course overview

Failure to comply with laws, regulations or internal policies can disrupt operations and expose an organisation to penalties and reputational damage. This programme examines how to identify those risks and assess their importance, including the governance arrangements and regulatory expectations that shape a compliance function. Delegates consider responsibilities as well as practical frameworks.

Assessment precedes the design of controls. Sessions address obligations, risk mapping and registers, then use gap analysis and materiality to establish priorities. Workshops develop a risk assessment matrix and a compliance framework, with attention to Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), technology and risks involving vendors or other third parties.

Monitoring needs reporting and follow-up. Delegates examine audit reviews and dashboards, procedures for handling violations and investigations, and whistleblowing arrangements that support ethical reporting. The final day considers leadership, training and awareness as part of compliance culture, followed by crisis response, remediation planning and continued improvement.
