Intensive 5-day course · English, Arabic & European languages

Plant managers, maintenance technicians and operations supervisors learn to handle threats and opportunities on this five-day course. Delegates follow a proven methodology for planning, identifying, analysing and controlling risks. The programme draws on the PMBOK 6th edition and the ISO 31000:2009 and ISO 31010:2009 standards, giving delegates the tools to manage hazards that could disrupt their facilities.

Course overview

Effective risk control allows operations teams to minimise threats and seize opportunities. Many organisations treat risk reactively, addressing problems only after they arise. This course takes the opposite approach, giving delegates a structured, proactive method for identifying and quantifying operational hazards before they cause harm.

A practical six-step process structures the five days of operations risk management work. Delegates examine the Critical Path Method (CPM) and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT). The programme addresses both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods. Delegates also build a financial buffer using Expected Monetary Value (EMV). The course finishes with an applied operations risk simulation drawn from realistic facility scenarios. Content is grounded in the PMBOK 6th edition and the principles of ISO 31000:2009 and ISO 31010:2009.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Explain the full risk management process
  2. Identify hazards affecting operational safety, time, cost and quality
  3. Reduce risks throughout the operations lifecycle
  4. Create effective monitoring plans and management strategies
  5. Apply a practical, six-step process for handling operations risks
  6. Build a financial buffer using Expected Monetary Value (EMV)
