Course overview

An organisation needs to understand its obligations and decide how to manage exposures when issues arise. The programme examines integrated governance, risk management and compliance activities, including issue and breach management, compliance projects and the role of legislation. Delegates consider how risk assessment can inform strategic planning, innovation and responses to threats.

Culture influences how these arrangements work. Sessions examine ethical behaviour and acceptable standards, tools for detecting policy violations and practices that reduce legal exposure. Work on regulatory bodies and their expectations supports the development of a GRC plan, with attention to performance and the responsibilities of compliance officers and their teams.

Practical examples connect the concepts with workplace duties. Delegates examine financial crime controls and escalation, then turn to boards, committees and stakeholder relationships. The course also addresses support for management and the supervision, development and motivation of colleagues as staff prepare for greater responsibility. The final day considers an integrated GRC model suited to the organisation.
