Risk assessment provides a basis for controlling hazards before accidents and injuries occur. The programme follows identification, evaluation and control in the workplace, linking safer conditions with regulatory compliance. Initial work on Day 1 addresses concepts, proactive management and requirements including OSHA and ISO 45001. Hazard identification on Day 2 covers physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic and psychosocial risks through inspections, audits and employee feedback, followed by a workplace exercise.
Assessment determines priorities. Methods on Day 3 include qualitative and quantitative approaches, risk matrices and checklists, with an assessment of a simulated workplace. Control planning on Day 4 follows elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), then monitors their effectiveness and develops a plan for a specific risk. The closing work integrates these measures into a proactive safety plan, engages employees and establishes regular review and updating. Cases, practical activities, quizzes and improvement plans accompany a workbook, daily breaks and Q&A.
