Course overview

A leader's decisions affect team relationships and the way an organisation responds to change. The five-day programme examines personal leadership capabilities and the practices involved in building trust, encouraging collaboration and developing resilient teams. Delegates begin with self-awareness and emotional intelligence, using assessment and reflection to examine their own leadership styles.

Team performance is a recurring subject. Sessions address setting a vision and matching team goals to it, while considering accountability, empowerment and the conflicts that can arise between team members. Case studies and exercises place these decisions in workplace situations. Delegates also examine how leaders shape organisational culture and encourage creativity when people resist change.

Communication work includes listening and persuasion. Role-play provides practice in leadership conversations, stakeholder influence and communicating upwards, followed by consideration of consensus building. The final sessions connect daily decisions with strategic thinking and include mentorship, development of future leaders and a personal action plan.
