Confidential know-how can move through research teams, suppliers, recruitment processes and commercial negotiations without appearing in a registered rights portfolio. Protection depends on more than labelling information confidential. Trade secret analysis considers secrecy, commercial value arising from secrecy and reasonable protective steps. This course helps organisations identify information requiring special treatment and select proportionate controls, while recognising that not all confidential information qualifies as a trade secret and that lawful independent development may remain possible.
Day 1 maps sensitive technical and commercial information and assesses its value and exposure. Day 2 examines access controls, handling practices and evidence of reasonable measures. Day 3 focuses on recruitment, employment changes and departures. Day 4 addresses suppliers, collaborations and confidentiality agreements, including the risks of receiving another organisation's information. Day 5 follows a suspected disclosure from initial containment to escalation and longer-term improvement. Across the five days, delegates practise coordinating legal, HR, security and operational teams to build a protection plan that can be maintained in ordinary business activity and reviewed as risks change.
