Managers achieve work through people while meeting time, quality and resource constraints. Objectives and Key Results offer a way to connect that work with strategic and operational priorities. The programme examines the four management functions of planning, organising, leading and controlling, known as POLC, and how OKRs introduce agility into that framework.
Preparation matters. Delegates consider executive sponsorship, mission, vision and strategy before developing an OKR plan and roadmap. They work on writing objectives, defining key results and scoring them, then examine how often to set and review OKRs and how resources and budgets relate to them. Connected OKRs are checked for alignment across individuals and teams.
Management sessions follow the interaction cycle from weekly meetings to mid-quarter check-ins and quarterly reviews. Different forms of control, team and project performance, and periodic updates are examined using OKR tools and techniques. The final module considers ownership, organisational performance measures, performance reviews and incentive compensation, together with resistance to change and implementation pitfalls. Activities, discussions and daily case studies provide practice in analysing and developing OKRs for delegates' organisations.
By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:
