Strategic management involves understanding business circumstances and choosing a course of action. The programme covers strategy fundamentals and newer approaches, applying them to delegates' own challenges. Business innovation, culture building, trend analysis and value pricing are examined through case studies and guidance informed by strategic thinkers. Work on trends explores emerging customer needs and preferences.
Innovation needs organisational support. Delegates consider the mindset, systems and procedures that support it, and examine how strategies can differentiate the business from its competitors, open new markets and address the strategic challenges facing the organisation. Value pricing is explored as a way to capture the value offered to customers. Scenario planning and cycles of action help frame choices about strategic value and customer opportunities.
Leadership sessions study principled decisions, organisational awareness and alignment between strategy and structure. Culture is considered in relation to innovation, collaboration and performance, including its role in implementation. The last day addresses evaluation and control using the Balanced Scorecard, benchmarking and other strategic tools, followed by continuous improvement and ongoing feedback. Lectures, discussions and individual and group exercises provide workplace applications, with personalised guidance from the trainer.
