Course overview

Modern quality functions require strong interpersonal leadership alongside statistical methods. Quality professionals who focus exclusively on compliance often struggle to engage line managers or sustain improvement initiatives. This programme outlines the technical frameworks and leadership behaviours needed to guide cross-functional quality initiatives.

Delegates review quality foundations, tracing teachings from prominent quality thinkers to modern standards like ISO 9001 and Total Quality Management (TQM). Sessions address Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) calculations, national excellence awards and team lifecycle dynamics. Team leaders examine practical methods for selecting members and overcoming resistance during continuous improvement projects.

Technical modules focus on Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Lean waste elimination (MUDA), 5S and Poka Yoke. Delegates also practise using the seven classic quality tools, process mapping, Turtle Diagram audits and the American Society for Quality code of ethics.
