Course overview

Key performance indicators inform decisions by making selected areas of organisational performance visible. Choosing suitable measures requires attention to the needs of stakeholders and the decisions they must make. Delegates examine how strategic and operational KPIs support proactive monitoring, alignment and balance, including the use of leading and lagging indicators and the LOGIC model.

Calculation is part of the work. Practical exploration from different business perspectives expands delegates' KPI dictionary and their ability to formulate and calculate indicators. Financial, customer and market measures address outcomes, while quality, processes and sustainability are considered as business enablers. Work on quality includes eight dimensions and index design; sustainability measures cover environmental and social impacts.

Data collection, evidence criteria and analysis inform target setting and benchmarking. KPI cards, dashboards, cascading and ownership are examined before delegates plan implementation. The project work considers senior management support, the KPI team and a results-oriented culture, together with internal communication, employee use and refinement of indicators. Tailored case studies in team workshops provide practice in analysing KPIs and developing measures relevant to organisational priorities.
