Course overview

Corporate governance in the non-profit sector requires a balance of leadership, strategy and risk control. This course explains how to build a governance structure that protects the organisation while supporting its goals. It covers the tools needed to implement governance practically. It also looks at the common obstacles boards face.

During the 5 days, the programme moves from the fundamentals of board effectiveness to the specifics of ERM and internal audits. Delegates will learn how to identify operational and financial risks, build a risk appetite framework (RAF), and draft a risk appetite statement (RAS). They will also look at risk control self-assessments (RCSA). The course then turns to compliance duties, including anti-money laundering checks. Finally, it addresses the risks of poor strategic planning and how boards can drive sustainable growth.

Course objectives

By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:

  1. Use leadership principles to meet business objectives and key performance indicators
