Managers and directors bring different professional backgrounds to strategic decisions. The programme allows senior leaders to deepen or update their knowledge of tools for innovation, strategy development and planning. Business and economic context are examined alongside the effects of external change, including technology, regulation and competition. Delegates consider how the sequence and approach used in strategy development influence decisions, with attention to innovative and incremental approaches.
Implementation requires commitment. Leadership work examines how to create strategy and communicate organisational change in ways that engage employees. Analytical skills sit alongside communication, inspiration and motivation as delegates review their contribution to corporate strategies and objectives. Cultural analysis includes the cultural web, multicultural organisations and mergers and acquisitions, as well as the effectiveness of current implementation approaches.
The later sessions connect strategy with tactics and plans. Ownership, budgeting, forecasting and adjustments to circumstances are examined as part of execution, with corporate objectives linked to individual objectives. Team and organisational perspectives on implementation inform the leadership work. A learning culture is also considered in relation to the ongoing strategic process.
